Education

Education in its broadest, general sense is the means through which the aims and habits of a group of people lives on from one generation to the next. Generally, it occurs through any experience that has a formative effect on the way one thinks, feels, or acts. In its narrow, technical sense, education is the formal process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, customs and values from one generation to another, e.g., instruction in schools.

About Santa Claus

Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas,Father Christmas and simply "Santa", is a figure with legendary, mythical, historical and folkloric origins who, in many western cultures, is said to bring gifts to the homes of the good children during the late evening and overnight hours of Christmas Eve, December 24.The modern figure was derived from the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas, which, in turn, may have part of its basis in hagiographical tales concerning the historical figure of gift giver Saint Nicholas. A nearly identical story is attributed by Greek and Byzantine folklore to Basil of Caesarea. Basil's feast day on January 1 is considered the time of exchanging gifts in Greece.
Santa Claus is generally depicted as a portly, joyous, white-bearded man wearing a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots (images of him rarely have a beard with no moustache). This image became popular in the US and Canada in the 19th century due to the significant influence of Clement Clarke Moore's 1823 poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" and of caricaturist and political cartoonist Thomas Nast. This image has been maintained and reinforced through song, radio, television, children's books and films. The North American depiction of Santa Claus as it developed in the 19th and 20th century in turn influenced the modern perceptions of Father Christmas, Sinterklaas and Saint Nicholas in European culture.
According to a tradition which can be traced to the 1820s, Santa Claus lives at the North Pole, with a large number of magical elves, and nine (originally eight) flying reindeer. Since the 20th century, in an idea popularized by the 1934 song "Santa Claus is coming to Town", Santa Claus has been believed to make a list of children throughout the world, categorizing them according to their behavior ("naughty" or "nice") and to deliver presents, including toys, and candy to all of the well-behaved children in the world, and sometimes coal to the naughty children, on the single night of Christmas Eve. He accomplishes this feat with the aid of the elves who make the toys in the workshop and the reindeer who pull his sleigh.

Stock market index

A stock market index is a method of measuring a section of the stock market. Many indices are cited by news or financial services firms and are used as benchmarks, to measure the performance of portfolios such as mutual funds.
Alternatively, an index may also be considered as an instrument (after all it can be traded) which derives its value from other instruments or indices. The index may be weighted to reflect the market capitalization of its components, or may be a simple index which merely represents the net change in the prices of the underlying instruments.

Management

Management in all business and organizational activities is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively. Management comprises planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization (a group of one or more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. Resourcing encompasses the deployment and manipulation of human resources, financial resources, technological resources and natural resources.
Since organizations can be viewed as systems, management can also be defined as human action, including design, to facilitate the production of useful outcomes from a system. This view opens the opportunity to 'manage' oneself, a pre-requisite to attempting to manage others.

Memorandum

A memorandum (abbrev.: memo) is from the Latin verbal phrase memorandum est, the gerundive form of the verb memoro, "to mention, call to mind, recount, relate", which means "It must be remembered (that)...". It is therefore a note, document or other communication that helps the memory by recording events or observations on a topic, such as may be used in a business office. The plural form of the Latin noun memorandum so derived is properly memoranda, but if the word is deemed to have become a word of the English language, the plural memorandums, abbreviated to memos, may be used.

Teacher as a Leader

Special Education has always been a second fiddle in the Educational System.  Thus, as a special educator, I have to contribute to show that special educators are equally important staff as well as the general educators and other specialists in contributing to the success of each learner and in building the foundation in the Educational System at any school district.
Dr. Nancy Blair stated that “mindful leadership is a process of influence that nurtures the capacity of self, others and the system to achieve a goal” (Laureate, 2007).  Truly an effective teacher leader entails lots of responsibilities.  As a teacher leader, I need to know my capabilities and focus on the goal that I will be working on to give direction and mind set as to what my priorities should be to be able to be of service to my students, colleagues and the community.  I believe that teacher is a classroom leader that influences the students to learn better.  A teacher is a community leader as well that helps the community to move and act for the betterment of the students.  The community is the extension of the school system.  Thus, for a student to perform better in school to achieve success, the community has to serve as the student’s model and inspiration to motivate and give the students purpose in life.
As a special educator working to be a teacher leader, I need to learn how to collaborate to other specialists as well as to the community officials in order to create a mobile effect of change that is beneficial to the student.  I know from experience that to collaborate is one of the hardest works to do for the teachers but I do believe that it is also one of the best ways to help students achieve their optimum level of learning.  According to Billinsley (2007), “teachers, who work in collaborative environment where all school staff see the importance of their role in serving students who have disabilities will likely have more success serving as leaders.”
I believe that to better help others, improving one-self first and foremost is important to have something productive and useful to impart and contribute to the betterment of the students and the community as a whole.
Indeed to become a teacher leader is an open challenge that all teachers in the school need to accept in order to ensure the quality of education that each individual student is receiving.  The Future of our children lies on the hands of the dedicated teacher who are willing to devote time, love and care to the students under their supervision. A teacher leader with a vision and will to act for each student to be successful and become productive citizens of the country is a wealth that is most treasured.
Catherine Balmeo.

Job Interview Tips.

Resume

A resume is a document used by individuals to present their background and skill sets. It can be used for a variety of reasons but most often to secure new employment.

A typical resume contains a summary of relevant job experience and education. The resume is usually one of the first items, along with a cover letter and sometimes job application packet, that a potential employer encounters regarding the job seeker and is typically used to screen applicants, often followed by an interview, when seeking employment. The resume is comparable to a curriculum vitae(CV) in many countries, although in Canada and the US resume is substantially shorter than CV.

Commercial Business Letter

A commercial business letter is a letter written in formal language, usually used when writing from one business organization to another, or for correspondence between such organizations and their customers, clients and other external parties. The overall style of letter will depend on the relationship between the parties concerned. There are many reasons to write a business letter. It could be to request direct information or action from another party, to order supplies from a supplier, to identify a mistake that was committed, to reply directly to a request, to apologize for a wrong or simply to convey goodwill. Even in our modern days, the business letter is still very useful because it produces a permanent record, is confidential, formal and delivers persuasive, well-considered messages.
